Until December 31, 2024, all Dortmund residents have the opportunity to plan their personal bicycle routes, navigate safely through the city and at the same time take part in various campaigns sponsored by the city. Using the bike app not only allows individual value for all cyclists, it also supports the scope of better city planning.
How will it work? Routes tracked in the app are passed on anonymously and GDPR-compliant to official city planning, which gains an increasingly clear picture of actual usage and behavior of cyclists in Dortmund. From the anonymous data, needs can be identified and to sustainably improve cycling friendliness in Dortmund. This way you too can have an influence on the future design of your city!
CYCLING IN DORTMUND
In 1992, the Dortmund City Council decided to update the first cycling concept from 1981. The cycling plan envisaged adding a further 150 km of cycle paths to the 325 km of existing cycle paths and was the basis for the expansion programs in the 1990s. Ten years later, the program of measures “Cycling in Dortmund, 5-year plan” was passed by the council (…)
