It‘s common knowledge: Daily movement keeps you healthier. But especially during the colder time of the year, you might feel you need a motivational break through to go for a bicycle ride. However, the people who do decide to step onto their pedals will find it is exhilarating, and won’t be able to stop winter cycling anymore. The streets and parks are quieter, the cold fresh air in your face it will give you a sense of freedom, and will make you feel happy and freshened up.

So what about this Bike Citizens Winter Cycling Challenge?

Become part of our Winter Cycling Community and experience your city from new perspective. Bike Citizens set up a little challenge that allows you to collect accomplishments in the app by tracking you rides.
The idea: Different animals are known for their particular winter habits. While some animals love the colder season and are very active, others lower their activity or even hibernate. Similar habits can be observed with humans – some love winter sports and can‘t wait for it. Others prefer to „hibernate“ until the warmer seasons.

Real bicycle love, needs no hibernation…

The Winter Cycling Challenge shows you, how much of a polar bear you are and aims at motivating the squirrel types to leave their winter dens from time to time for a bicycle ride. Depending on your number of cycling days, you will unlock different animals that reflect your activity (or hibernation) habits during winter time. Each of the four animals represent it‘s winter habits through a different number of cycling days.
As part of the community you can help to increase the virtual population of hedgehogs, squirrels, polar foxes and polar bears, by collecting their badges. Until the the beginning of spring on 21 March 2019 you have the opportunity to leave your cozy den for a winter ride.
