Get rewarded for cycling

Do something good for yourself, the environment and local businesses – the Bike Benefit campaign makes it possible. The Bike Benefit Campaign is a reward system specifically for cyclists. From September to November 2022, Osnabrück residents can use the Bike Citizens app to earn great prizes, vouchers and discounts.

How does it work?

The Bike Citizens app is available for iOS and Android users and can be downloaded from the respective app stores. The free usage of the app is made possible by the city of Osnabrück. As soon as the registration has been completed, you can easily join the Bike Benefit Campaign Osnabrück within the “Plaza”. The more often journeys are made by bike during the week, the more bonus points, the so-called Finneros, are collected within the app. These can be redeemed at numerous local partner businesses in the city of Osnabrück.

Up to two Finneros can be credited to the benefit account per week. The main aim is to cycle as many journeys as possible.

Additional Finneros can be collected via Achievements: For example, those who cycle particularly regularly or cover many kilometres are rewarded with extra Finneros. Early morning rides are also rewarded. But not only the early bird catches the Finnero, there are also extra points for night birds.

What do I get out of it?

As mentioned at the beginning, you support your own health, the positive development of the environment and local businesses.

It’s a fact, those who exercise daily are healthier. In fact, just 15 minutes of exercise a day can extend life expectancy by about three years. In addition, you avoid about 147 g of CO2 emissions per kilometre. Apart from space constraints, a car parking space costs cities and companies 30 times as much as a bicycle parking space. This savings potential, coupled with the positive effects on health and the environment, shows how cycling makes a city more liveable.
