Eurobike 2015 Shows New Trends in the Bicycle Industry
“It’s going to be the next big thing,” said Gary Fisher, known as one of the inventors of the mountain bike, as he talked recently about mountain bikes with electric motors. This and other market innovations, which have potential to become the next mega trend, are in the spotlight during the Eurobike 2015 (August 26th - 29th), the most significant bicycle trade show in Europe.
Eurobike Show as a Sign for Flourishing Bicycle Industry
Bicycle mobility continually increases in importance. About 650,000 people in Europe (ECF Study 2014) are employed in the bicycle industry. The ECF, European Cycling Federation, supposes an economic and environmental benefit of cycling of about € 205.2 – 217bn per year. Considering these figures it gets clear that enterprises need a shared platform, to promote these developments.
Over the past few years the Eurobike established as a central networking event for experts within the bicycle industry. Each year the bike fair at Lake Constance attracts about 45,000 visitors from over 100 countries. The 1350 exhibitors present their newest products and technologies.
Eurobike Award as a Seal of Approval
With such a wide variety of promising innovations it is not always easy to stay on top of things. On Wednesday, 26th of August the most outstanding innovations are honoured with the Eurobike Award. For example the winners of last year were the winter jacket SCHAAP, Triathlon Bike Rafael-r-023 and the Finn smartphone mount.
Exactly 500 products, ranging from inner tubes to downhill bikes, were submitted for this year’s Eurobike Award. The six judges, consisting of designers, specialist journalists, a successful mountain bike athlete and a bicycle dealer, choose the winners. The submitted products and technologies are rated upon their sophisticated design, function and degree of innovation. On August 26th the best 64 are honoured with the Eurobike Award.
Public Day Offers Best Entertainment for Bicycle Enthusiasts
On Saturday, the public day, the doors of the fair ground open for all visitors. A varied programme offers great entertainment. Special highlights are the Lake Jump or several bike parcours for testing e-bikes, recumbent bicycles or mountain bikes. Information about different bike journeys can be obtained at the Holiday on Bike section.
