Munich is regarded as the cycling capital and cycling is a part of everyday life for many people who live in the city. The city’s cycling modal share is 17 per cent and its cycle network covers around 1,200 kilometres (750 miles). The city’s many visitor attractions can be easily reached by bike. After a long cycle tour along the Isar River and through the city’s green belt, cyclists often spend the rest of the day relaxing along the banks of the river. The cycle network is expected to be extended in the new few years so that the city can defend its title of the cycling capital.
