Around the World on the Invisible Bike
Travelling around the world without your beloved bicycle can be sometimes hard. But the good thing is, that the invisible bike is always around. So when the urge for cycling is too strong and no bike is close by, jump on your invisible bike and take it for a ride to the most peculiar places.
In fact, the #invisiblebike is nothing new. It has existed as long as the bicycle itself. Many pictures have made their ways towards the galaxy of the Internet, most of them photoshopped and some of them taken while jumping. But not many of them share such a great story, as the one Marie Isabel Plasencia Suarez and Günther Konrad do:
Have You Seen the Invisible Bike?
It was a beautifully sunny day six years ago and my friend and I where walking along the river (I guess on the way to fuel our bodies with coffee but I don´t really remember that). At some point we stopped for a moment to where try out the sports mode of a new digital pocket camera, jumping around and taking snapshots when a very agitated looking woman came rushing down the street: „Have you seen my bike? Have you seen my bike? It was there, right there“ she exclaimed repeatedly while pointing to the middle of the bicycle track next to us.
We tried to help but she couldn’t really describe the bike and before we could help her she was gone already. Everything went so fast. We did not fully understand what had happened and were left with stunning eyes. After wondering for some time, we got back to what we did and switched on the camera to check the pics. Something of a surprise awaited us – I was clearly sitting on the mysterious bike she just had described us! We burst out laughing and immediately repeated this series of pictures. A coincidence at first, but we soon succeeded. This was fun and we did it over and over again on different locations.
Soon the Invisible Bike Made Its Trip Around the World
This was the beginning of their invisible bike story and it soon gained momentum when they first shared the idea with other travellers during a trip in Croatia. Shortly afterwards a group on Facebook was founded in order to be able to share the snapshots and soon pictures where taken in Hungary, Spain, Italy, Thailand, Australia and many other places around the world. To all the potential invisible bikers out there – come on and join the fun!
